Husbands and Wives

I am not writing a review for Woody Allen’s film ‘Husbands and Wives’ nor am i married to write about issues of ‘Husbands and Wives’. This post is about the controversy created by media and feminists regarding the statement made by Shriprakash Jaiswal.  This is what Shriprakash Jaiswal said while addressing a cultural event.
“A new victory and a new marriage have their own importance. But as times passes, the memories of a victory go old and as time passes, a wife gets old, the same charm is not there”
Women organizations protested, they criticized and some even said that it’s “Commodification of Women” and should be charged under IPC. Let’s just replace the word ‘wife’ with ‘husband’ in the statement made by Shriprakash Jaiswal. It would be…
“A new victory and a new marriage have their own importance. But as times passes, the memories of a victory go old and as time passes, a husband gets old, the same charm is not there”
Does the above statement create anger? For me, the above statement is more like a gimmick of a left-liberal- feminist standup comedian. If you have visited a pub or a bar where these days the so called female standup comedians perform their acts, every alternate joke is about boyfriends and husbands and if they are out of sexist jokes they shift their attention on Penis jokes. Of Course, the performance of so called ‘Desi’ female standup comedians is of gutter quality, but no one questions the sexist remarks made by them. Why?

Sagarika Ghose, in her show ‘Face the Nation’ asked ‘Is gender bias deep rooted in Indian politics?’ after the so called controversial comment made by Shriprakash Jaiswal. Madam Ghose has a channel to express her views and debate on useless issues, but who will debate on topic like…Let’s say ‘Is gender bias deep rooted in Indian Media?’ after she made this controversial statement where she targets Indian men by terming them ‘Ugly’.
Notes from Bangkok airport: Indian males as a species must be the ugliest in the world! The ones on Twitter sound ugly "too!"
There cannot be better example to define the word ‘Hypocrisy’ other than exemplifying the acts of Indian Media. People at NDTV seem to have their own rules when it comes to the issues of women. Barkha Dutt, who is featured in the list of top 100 'Womerati' had this to say…
“Haryana makes me wonder why two young women would self-combust over loutish, unsavoury men in politics. The pull of power & also its poison”
As expected, there was no outrage and even if there was an outrage, it would be suppressed (you know what I am talking about, later you might be vindicated by Supreme Court).  Here is another gem from NDTV on Bhanwari Devi,a woman who was allegedly murdered by the instructions of powerful political leaders of Rajasthan. Was there an outrage by women organizations or by @#$*^% feminists?.. NO. A good analysis done by CRI on the NDTV article is here.

NDTV had a discussion on the comment made by Shriprakash Jaiswal and interviewed him. The anchor of the show even asked this question ‘Does women in your family approve your comments’ … did you spot the pure dumbness in the question? And then she also makes the viewers informed that they 'we will follow this story closely’… WTF?

India is still under the mode of chauvinism, not in every issue related to society but definitely when it comes to issues related to women. Our politicians need chauvinism and more than them, it’s the India Media which needs it and exploits it.

Finally, people who have patiently read this post might want to ask about my views on the comments made by Shriprakash Jaiswal. I don’t see anything wrong in the comments made by Shriprakash Jaiswal. Enough ?
