Understand few things before asking for 'Right to Religious Freedom'

  • 1
Perhaps the debate of ‘Right to Religious Freedom’ places the left-liberal intelligentsia in a very comfortable position, the non-rigid conservative supporters in a difficult position and the rookie liberals juxtaposed with their own thoughts. Often we see the topic of ‘Religious Freedom’ termed as a complex issue, it is a simple issue when looked with the lens of anarchy and it would be a mistake to surmise it as a non-state issue.

Some basic definitions of terms which will be helpful to comprehend my perception when you scroll down this page:

Secularism: Secularism is the principle of separation between government institutions and the persons mandated to represent the State from religious institutions and religious dignitaries.

Pseudo intellectual: Pretentiously or insincerely intellectual.

Uniform civil code: A uniform civil code administers the same set of secular civil laws to govern all people irrespective of their religion, caste and tribe.

Human nature has room for biases. Our judgement of ideas associated with certain people gets influenced by the labels that are attached to them. Ayn Rand had an interesting take on religion, her default labeling by some makes many assume that she had rigid opinions on it, contrary she had less radical views. In an interview to the Playboy magazine she says…

Q) Has no religion, in your estimation, ever offered anything of constructive value to human life?
A) Qua religion, no—in the sense of blind belief, belief unsupported by, or contrary to, the facts of reality and the conclusions of reason. Faith, as such, is extremely detrimental to human life: it is the negation of reason. But you must remember that religion is an early form of philosophy, that the first attempts to explain the universe, to give a coherent frame of reference to man’s life and a code of moral values, were made by religion, before men graduated or developed enough to have philosophy. And, as philosophies, some religions have very valuable moral points. They may have a good influence or proper principles to inculcate, but in a very contradictory context and, on a very—how should I say it?—dangerous or malevolent base: on the ground of faith.

A thorough looking of Ayn Rand’s views on various issues may surprise so called Libertarians and many others who go by the default labeling and terming her as pseudo intellectual.

Cocktail in Religion:

The term ‘Dalit Christians’ has come into the social arena with its disgusting support from the activists who have are now actively asking for the rights of Christians who are/were? dalits. Going by basic logic or by even minimal dialectics of secularization, asking for reservations policies to be extended to Christians is nothing but funny. It is not a secret that many people who got converted to Christianity wanted to relinquish the caste system and follow a faith which doesn’t discriminate them on caste, when a man/woman has denounced his/her caste and is actively following a faith on that issue – on what basis or any so called meaningful reason can be justified on the issue of reservations?. ‘Dravidian Christians’ – It is not an old phenomenon and not a new one, but its activity seems to be on full swing in the recent time. The dangerous amalgam of the bunkum called ‘Aryan Invasion Theory’ – the brainwashing of some people with gutter stories of discrimination is going to stay longer than expected.

Love Jihad:

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said “Over 2500 women converted to Islam in Kerala since 2006”, I wish to skip the jabber of ‘Love Jihad’, the role of mass conversions in perpetuating terror and the mind boggling foreign funding involved in it, but would like to point that like Bengal, Kerala is a time bomb waiting to explode and to add, Ex-Chief Minister of Kerala V S Achyutanandan has said that very soon Kerala would be a Muslim majority state.

The Court of Law and Religions:

Let us have a look on how the courts reacted to the matters of religion and issues which are related to religion.

The case of ‘Hindutva’ argued by Ram Jethmalani.

Long back Ram Jethmalani argued a case in Supreme Court on ‘Hindutva’ and the Supreme Court in its judgment said “Hindutva is understood as a way of life or a state of mind and is not to be equated with or understood as religious Hindu fundamentalism.”

Andhra Pradesh High Court on minority sub-quota:

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has rejected the 4.5% sub quota to Muslims within the OBCs quota of 27% and the very important point which got eluded in news discussions is that the judgment says “Reservations has never been so appealing ...”

The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Freedom of Religion Act:

The Himachal Pradesh High Court apart from striking down provisions of the Himachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act-2006 act, it said that “Anyone converted to a different faith of own will, the state had no role to play, but if the conversion was because of force, fraud, or inducement, and it threatened the secular fabric of India, law could prevent it.”

Escapades of Indian Government with Religion in the mask of so called Secularism:

If there can be anyone who does not want to delink religion from state, it is the self-proclaimed so called secular party, its escapades to cash in votes in the name of secularism by luring the minorities is a rare art that needs finesse. Every art needs a critical perception and lack of critical perception or the lack of will to give a critical opinion or the firm belief to ignore the facts to immune the art can be possible by the crooks of media. The Indian media failed to even have a subtle opinion about so called secular escapades of government with religion.
  • Govt is all set to grant madrasa certificates equivalence to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
  • Right to Education Act: Hindu teacher in Christian school can take tuition, but same teacher in Hindu school can be jailed/ fined! via Reality Check India
  • Muslims must have first claim on resources: Dr. Manmohan Singh.
  • The fraud committed by Bengali Communists with History text books with their inoculation of so called secular thoughts.

Left-Liberals and Marxists have s**t on their hands.

Marxists, who see religion as opium of the masses, have smoked it when needed in Bengal. The gutter ideas of so called egalitarian views and their option for holding on to power have forced them to smoke stuff of gutter quality and have thrown the excreta on the common man. The true face of Marxism or Communism is neatly captured in the gem of Arun Shourie’s “Eminent Historians” where the comrades have lied to the innocent school children by poisoning the school history text books.

Left-Liberals whose sources of orgasms are the ideas of the eloquent bunkum douche bags will never permit themselves to understand the source of problem which lies in the ‘Right to Religious Freedom’. The left liberal lofers who mostly only talk about delinking the religion from state have always eluded the philosophy and thoughts of various religions when confronted with factual queries.

Carte blanche of religion from state is impossible in India for many reasons. Would anyone who has substantial knowledge of the Uniform Civil code allow the delinking of religion from the control of state? For instance, let us assume that there will be a situation where a religion is asked to take a position on the Uniform Civil Code – which religions in Indian are going to accept the uniform civil code and which religions are going to reject the uniform civil code?. Religions which accept uniform civil code get any special benefits? Or the religions which reject the uniform civil code lose any special benefits? Can a religion stand up and say that it is willing to accept the ‘Union of India’ by ignoring the confrontation which it can receive from its religion?

Can the state afford to ignore the involvement of foreign money and agitation in regard to the Anti-Nuclear protests? Does the business of souls which happens at $500 to start with have the approval of the delinking of religion with state? Can they afford to stop the business with faith and souls? Do the left-liberals have any consideration of the enormous amount of money pushed into country with regard to the business of souls which is rampant in certain parts of South India and spreading to North India? Can the left-liberals who see religion just in terms of individual right to follow a faith support the ban on foreign funding? What about population control and other social problems when a “Church offers Rs 10,000 reward for fifth child”?

Religion can be delinked with state only if it is practiced in four walls without its influence on the matter of security and policies of a nation. It’s the failure of the Indian people that they haven’t forced any government to amend acts like the Uniform Civil Code, the abolishing of Article 370, the misuse of foreign funding, people who wants others to see as a matter of personal right should also argue over the data of religion gathered during census etc…

The idea of religious freedom has become an Idée fixe in some sects who choose to ignore the rippling effects of it on the nation with the present rules and regulations which would be contradictory to the idea of India, the true concept of secularism, the path towards a progressive republic and foundations of a true democracy. Instead of fighting for religious freedom, it’s the duty of those to fight for the changes and amendments required where an individual is allowed to choose his own faith and opinions of his religion does not dominate the security and integrity of the nation.

"There is undoubtedly a sense in which the statement is true when I say that I hold my religion dearer than my country and that, therefore, I am a Hindu first and nationalist after. I do not become on that score less a nationalist than the best of them. I simply thereby imply that the interests of my country are identical with those of my religion. Similarly, when I say that I prize my own salvation above everything else, above the salvation of India, it does not mean that my personal salvation requires a sacrifice of necessarily that the two go together." ~ Mahatma Gandhi.

  1. great post! based on first-hand experience, the reason for conversion to Christianity in Tamil Nadu is similar to the way people vote: for freebies and goodies, with no expectation of permanent change in social status.
