I don't think one needs to look beyond K Viswanath's "Aapadbandhavudu" to get a glimpse of Chiranjeevi's talent.
Aapadbandhavudu was released 25 years back, like many other people of my age, I watched Aapadbandhavudu on TV.
Whenever K Viswanath's films get played on TV, I involuntarily stop for sometime and watch couple of scenes even while going out for important work - that is the power of K Viswanath's films.
Aapadbandhavudu script is in such a way that it somewhat depends on the talent of the lead actor and Chiranjeevi doesn't disappoint even for a second. It is hard to find slight trace of mediocrity even in one scene.
I cant image any other actor who can pull the mirror scene so convincingly, the passion which can be felt in the other scene where he creates a Shiva linga and questions the god.
Aapadbandhavudu didnt do well at the box office, and as far I remember this was the last film of Chiranjeevi where his real acting skills were used - may be it was a conscious decision by Chiranjeevi not to choose such scripts anymore due to its box office failure.
Its a shame that Chiranjeevi was under utilized, Telugu Film Industry deserved such performances from Chiranjeevi. Nevertheless, Aapadbandhavudu is one of the masterpieces of Telugu Cinema.
